The Phil and Ted stroller ( Sport) is all the rage with youthful urban parents. It’s good looking, comes in bright, snazzy colours, and it’s from New Zealand! The Phil and Ted also features a truly unique style. It could be transformed from just one stroller to a double stroller, as well as reconfigured to handle toddlers, infants, or perhaps a combination of both. The idea is the fact that the stroller grows together with a developing family. It functions such as this:
For the initial kid, the stroller is utilized in singular mode and also the seats recline so that the baby may lie totally flat. As the child becomes to a toddler, the seat modifies so she can sit upright as in a regular stroller. Once your 2nd child comes into the world: the stroller is used in double mode, with child #1 sitting upright in front, and also the newborn lying totally reclined within the rear.
As the newborn develops, you can purchase an extra seat that snaps on to the back again – and presto – you’ve a regular inline double stroller – i.e. one child seated in the front, the other child seated behind.
The Phil and Ted Activity will be the latest edition of two earlier strollers: the “Explorer” and also the E3. The company has steadily enhanced the design including new functions and correcting old issues. They also produce the Phil and Ted e3 Twin which is a side-by-side stroller (with children sitting beside each other). The Twin isn’t nearly as well-liked because the Sport whose inline style easily will get you in and from narrow spaces. The Phil & Ted Activity is really a great choice for everyday use: The inline design and swivel wheels make it very manoeuvrable and great for shopping. Handlebars are flexible, and there will be the ever-popular bumper bar for children to grab hold of. Typically the structure is light in weight aluminium in addition to tires are quick release for simple storage. However, the little front and back tires restrict the stroller to smooth surfaces – no strolling or off-roading here! Furthermore carrying capability is really a bit of an issue, unless you purchase additional bags distributed individually. These ‘Pannier Bags’ are like pockets that hang on either side of the stroller giving you extra storage.
The key criticism you will learn about the Phil and Ted Sport is the price. You can anticipate paying about $500 for the stroller plus an extra $90 for the back seat attachment. Competing strollers in this price range are Bob Revolution, Mountain Buggy Urban, and Baby Jogger City Series.
Despite the price, a new Phil and Ted Activity may not be a good choice if you are planning to have more than one kid. ( To put it accurately 75% of families have another child a few years after the first one!). So if you have 1 newborn and can’t decide between a double or single stroller, the Phil and Ted Sport might be the safe selection for you.
You might find that we take a little bit different approach than most stroller blog. You see, we don’t want to just sell you a stroller. We want to help you find the perfect stroller that will best meet your needs. We write about the top quality brands such as Bugaboo, Orbit Baby, Phil & Teds, BOB strollers, Baby Jogger and much more. So we recognize that these strollers can be a sizable investment and we want to make sure that we take the time to discuss all the available options for your stroller purchase.
We encourage our local Tampa customers to take the stroller out for a test drive and see how it fits in their vehicle trunk, etc. Most parents find this a bit refreshing in an age where impersonal store clerks who don’t really understand the products is the norm.
All of at phil&teds were absolutely gob smacked when we heard about Meredith Shur’s awful experience. However, once we learned that a phil&teds stroller had kept her little angels free from harm we were elated!
“The stroller flew out of my hands and flipped onto it’s side. I had one of those instant flashes of “My life is ending at this moment.” I still get a pit in my stomach every time I think about it. By some miracle, both the boys escaped with just some minor scrapes. I truly believe that if they had not been in such a well constructed stroller, the outcome could have been very different. I just wanted you and everyone at the company to know that I attribute the well being of my children to your stroller. Please share this anyone who will feel good reading it. Thank you, thank you. Meredith Shur”
Scary isn’t it? We’re just soooooo happy that Meredith’s precious children are OK and the stroller is too!
We’re insanely certified and proud of it! Please be super safe when you’re out and about with your little treasures, apply the brake when stationary, make sure all passengers are securely strapped in for their adventure, & if you’re unsure about anything get in touch!
So back on February 14th 2010 (Valentine’s Day) we set up the procreation challenge!
We like to think that we go the extra mile to understand parenting challenges and gain the best user insights. We may be a bit wacky at phil&teds, but that shouldn’t extend to the product! Oops – we made a few explorer sunhoods with Mountain Buggy parts. Very sorry about that. So if your explorer’s sunhood is popping off, drop us an email @ care@philandteds.com with a picture of your sunhood clips & we’ll sort it out for you!

Baby Jogger introduces a new color for 2011, Purple! It is going to be available on both the City Select where it is called “Amethyst” and on the City Mini where it is simply called, Purple. It is areal deep kind of purple and my initial conversations with people have me believing this will be a love it or leave it type color addition. What do you think about the purple? Is it gender neutral?

- I had to swing by to see new phil&teds Sub 4 running stroller. I can almost guarantee that you have never seen a running stroller like this. Note my decision to use the term “running” instead of “jogging” to describe this phil&teds Sub 4. The stroller is made for the serious runner. It looks fast just sitting there on its big 20? wheels that are stopped by, get this, twin disc brakes! This stroller has disk brakes! I still can’t get over that. The Phil and Teds running stroller also features what they call a “motion control hub” that helps create a very stable ride regardless of the terrain and the dynamic frame flexing capability helps keep the wheels grounded over uneven ground. While we don’t think this will hit every mainstream jogging mom’s trail, we think it may find a place among those seeking that something different for their run.

- Mountain Buggy has a cool new accessory for the “big brother” or “big sister”. It is a “freerider” buggy board and scooter. It attaches to your stroller like a traditional buggy board but then the child can gain a bit of independence and turn it in to his own scooter! Pretty cool. In buggy board mode, the child can hold on to the Freerider handlebar instead of the stroller handle bar which should make it more comfortable for both of you. So it doesn’t compromise your own stride or comfort the Freerider can attach over to one side of the stroller and away from the direct center. And of course the big benefit of this is hours of endless fun scooting around the neighborhood! Currently this only works with Mountain Buggy strollers but they are working on getting a model that is compatible with other strollers.

Those are a few of the new products that we saw coming out. We will post more details as were learn them! Let us hear your thoughts on the Baby Jogger Purple color!
The wait is finally over. But it was well worth it. Phil & Teds has just released their new model of Inline Strollers for 2010 and they are all in stock ready to ship. The Phil and Teds Explorer has replaced the all well known and loved Sport model but don’t be sad…the explorer is awesome! We opened up one of the Navy Explorer strollers as soon as it came off the truck and we like what we saw.
Phil and Teds Strollers are known for their ability to convert from a single stroller to a double stroller at any given time no matter where life takes you. Adapt and survive is the Phil & Teds tag line and this still holds true for their newest model of Inline Strollers called the Phil and Teds Explorer.
Here are some of the features we love: First, we love that Phil & Teds has upgraded the sun hood from previous models. The Explorer stroller’s hood provides more coverage for your child by offering a “follow the sun” type of hood and a flip-out visor for added coverage. None of the other Phil & Teds currently offer this type of hood. The Explorer stroller also has a side pocket on the hood for small items such as a cel phone, keys or iPod.

Another great change is the brake system. If you have ever tried to engage the brake on the Phil & Teds Sport model with flip-flops or other open-toe shoes then you know what a big deal this is. The Explorer has a smooth foot pedal brake engagement system! Gone is the toe breaking, toe nail polish destroying metal brake bar. Love it.

In and out of the car often? Then you’ll love the upgraded one hand fast fold ability of the Explorer. This fast fold system is about as effortless as we have seen. Once you fold it, the stroller automatically locks and you’re ready to store it.

For the Explorer, Phil & Teds adopted the plastic footwell from the Dash Stroller. This is a huge improvement over the old Sport Buggy. The upgraded hard plastic footwell offers greater durability and less clean up hassle over the old style. We loved this feature on the Dash and were very happy to see it carried over to the new Explorer stroller.
